Welcome to Hvar,

most likely one of the most beautiful islands in the mediterranean sea....

HVAR,

town and port situated on the southwest coast of the Island, at a bay which is protected by the Pakleni otoci (Hell's islands) from the south and by a low mountain crest from the north; 3643 residents.

Typically mediteranean climate with little variation in temperature; 2715 hours of sun per year. Lush and subtropical vegetation (palm trees, myrtles, agaves, laurel, rosemary, pine trees)

The new part of the town has grown at the coast-side around the small port. In the 1920' tourism begun to develop, so that, today, the Island of hvar is one one of the most frequently visited touristic destinations in Dalmatia.

There are buses connecting all the main towns and villages on the island (Stari Grad, Vrbanj, Jelsa and others) and ferry-boats to Split, Rijeka, Zadar, Dubrovnik and the Islands of the archipelago.

Hvar is famous for its nice and warm climate with a lot of sun, very few rainy days and almost no snow. That is why there is rule that hotel-guests have to pay only half the price should it rain the whole day, and nothing should it snow (which almost never happens).

Therefore, Hvar is particularly popular among people that love to bath in the sea despite the fact that the hotels have heated swimming pools with salt water. A visit to the group of small islands, Pakleni Otoci (Hell's Islands) located in front of the port of Hvar is particularly charming because it gives you the oppurtunity to enjoy the sun and the sea in the seclusion of many wooded bays. There are nudist beaches on the islands of Jerolim and Stipanska.

Restaurants and wine tavern in the town of Hvar offer you fish specialities that the excellent local wine goes very well with.

There are plenty of restaurants, bars, bistros and cafes so that the young as well as the old will find a niche among like minded people.

Traditional programme of cultural events play an important part in the the touristic offers on the island. Just to mention a few: there is the summer of Hvar (July-September), evenings of traditional music and dance, various celebrations dedicated to the fishermen on the Island, the " town celebration" including a special procession, and celebrations on St. Prosperous (10th May), the Holy-Cross-Day (14th September) and on Good Friday.

The smal island, Sveti Klement, which is part of the archipelago in front of the Island of Hvar houses the ACI marina with 190 moorings. There are taxi boats connecting Sveti Klement with Hvar. In the vicinity of the marina are many beautiful beaches.
